It's extremely annoying that the CPU with throttle down to 800MHz even when playing games advertising low system requirements. Modded Cold Waters on Boot Camp lags even though GPU usage is less than 50%. This happens within 5-10 minutes of starting a scenario or campaign during gameplay.

Now that we have some material to illustrate the issue, wouldn't be the right time for someone here to contact the apple support with all these videos ?

I had the same problem as you did, and it drove me crazy. You should try QuickCPU it solves almost 95% of CPU related throttling (%5 percent being pushing BOTH the CPU & GPU at 100%) I would suggest putting the desired clock at 2.3 ghz and giving a maximum wattage of 25. Now all of my problems are solved CPU wise, all that needs to be solved is the random GPU throttling and unstable gpu clock speed / Guess that's a driver related issue (

That throttling is occurring because of that line which works exactly the same way as thermal throttle. Unless you turn that warning line off there is no way that you can fix it (which might cause damaging your computer I have been doing it for a month now and I am still good but do it if it is a risk that you want to take) - hence it is an internal issue. If someone wants to tell otherwise, I am all ears.

You guys need to stop focusing on the CPU throttling down and concentrate on the GPU. The CPU should be 20ish percent being used and the GPU should be in the 70-80 percent sitting at 60FPS. Or if you run without Vsync on, then 99%. But the CPU should not be bottlenecking this baby 5500m in the macbook pro. People are getting too focused on the CPU and not the GPU. Which in my case as well as many others, the GPU starts out great, then throttles itself down to almost nothing leaving you with less than console grade FPS. I mean its 15 minutes of 60fps locked maxed out 1920x1200 in Modern Warfare for me, followed by 20fps as it throttles itself down to 300mhz. This is ridiculous. Someone please help us get this fixed. All these tools are making my head spin.

I think both GPU and CPU are throttling. We should have one thread by specific issue. This thread contains mainly reports and informations about GPU throttling , to build up a case and send it to AMD / Apple. Did somebody already try to reach out to apple ? I tried with AMD driver team but got no answer so far.

I tried with AMD driver team but got no answer so far. Now that AMD manages the drivers, I don't think that they will be updating the drivers any time soon if at all, we are stuck with 8 months old drivers as for july 2020 .. What a shame that is..

I plan to contact Apple's support even though I have an older 15". I just need to get a video up of my own throttling issues.
Because of the combined keyboard and throttling issues, I want a maxed out 16" MBP with 5600M, which I am willing to pay a fraction of the cost to upgrade to as a customer replacement.

Hmm just curious, if you have already a spare mac, why don't you simply buy a mid range gaming pc laptop at a fraction of the price of the 5600m ? I only have one MBP, which is a 1 1/2 year-old 15" model. My previous MBP I a 2006 17", which is obviously obsolete and no longer in my possession. I planned to get an MBP for a long time since the 2012-2015 Retina generation that would be extremely versatile performance-wise. This 16" that may be the last before ARM Macs is the one I hoped would be made for several years. Having researched about customer replacement units, I know one case in which a Redditor paid for upgrades to a brand new MacBook Pro customer replacement unit in addition to the specs the new MacBook Pro that Apple offered him. It would cost me approximately $1200 for a $5000 (including tax that totals to ~$5400 in my state) 2020 16" MBP i9/64GB/5600M/4TB bought through Apple's Education Store to upgrade from my 2018 i9/32GB/V20/512GB, which was $4200 including tax. Apple tried to replace my MacBook Pro keyboard 3 times. This fourth keyboard now has issues less than a month after I got it back from repair. I also have some cash set aside to get a new iPad Pro, but I'm probably going to use the money for my iPad Pro upgrade for an all-AMD PC build because I can't find good enough simulation games on iOS compared to what Windows offers.

Here's another throttling video that lasts 8 minutes. At the end, I get the 800MHz CPU throttle on March 2020 drivers. We were playing for around 20 minutes in this map before it occurred.
We can safely say there's a throttling issue regardless of what newer MBP model you own in Boot Camp.
For April drivers, my CPU doesn't throttle. Instead, it's the GPU that ends up stuck on idle until I sleep and wake or restart. Vega 20 has no known fixes for this from what I know, and some even said Vega 20 MBP was the worst purchase they ever made because of throttling.
With the 16" at least having workarounds, it's a significantly more ideal MacBook.
