I bought a 16 inch macbook pro 2019 with an i9 and 5500m to do editing and to use for school
I bootcamped windows 10 home edition on it, installed steam and installed Halo master chief collection
using steams internal FPS counter using minimum settings on absolutely everything, I average 130 frames in halo 2 and like 107 in halo 3. I have a 165hz monitor so I was slightly disappointed in those figures considering how old those games are (16 and 13 years respectively) but I figured it is what it is. my GPU utilization is at like 33-47% which is another mystery.
but then something mysterious happened. for 1 day (6 hour gaming session 2 weeks ago) I got 250 frames in h3 and 470-600 in halo 2. consistently. this is more in line with what I would expect to receive given they settings im using, the hardware and the age of the game.
but then it went away. Now I need to know what happened, I know now my hardware is capable of running it, so I cant be satisfied the 100 frames is good enough. Also halo 2 anniversary a much more gfx intensive game runs as good or better than halo 2 and halo 3 is only 15% worse than halo 2.
another reason I know to be suspicious is when I watch hd streams on my second monitor my FPS dont drop literally at all.
so something is set up wrong or my drivers arent right.
so I tried to follow the Adrenalin driver update and was only able to get the one from the beginning of the year to work and it showed essentially no improvement.
when I attempt to install the new one it says
"Error 173 - Radeon Software install cannot proceed as no AMD graphics hardware has been detected in your system configuration"
So now im at a loss. any help would be appreciated
