My mbp 2015 retina starts thermal throttling at just above 70 degrees celcius. This seems awefully low.. is there any way to work around it, or fix it? Been reading all day, and the only thing i can find seems to be people discussing it, and coming up with same result after vigurous testing of all kinds of parameters, but no real solutions.

You can override thermal throttling of the GPU with my drivers which disable something called 'Ultra-Low Power States' by default. Unfortunately I cannot help you with thermal throttling of the CPU. Perhaps more aggressive fan speed increases with macsfancontrol may help alleviate the issue slightly.

Yes it applies to any kind of CPU.

Disabling ULPS doesn’t work, unfortunately, at least from my experience. It’s only meant for crossfire dual GPU configurations where one card would get set to energy saver mode if it’s not being fully used.
