Hello everyone,
First and foremost thank you Matt for the awesome work.
Here's my problem :
I'm experiencing some heat issues while gaming with my Macbook pro 16" 64gb ram, 2,3 GHz Intel Core i9 8 core, AMD 5500M 8go, my gpu's quickly rising at 86°C+ w/50W and a clock speed around 1100 and 1300Mhz, then it's throttling and it drops around 40W with a clock speed of 900/1000Mhz and 80/83°C. Tested that on different games (AC Odissey, AC Syndicate, Far Cry 4, Jedy Fallen Order and Watch Dogs) and w/ different drivers (apple drivers, january blue edition and red) and I've always the same heat problem.
I'm using Throttlestop w/turbo disabled, PPO current limit, Turbo boost long power max/short power max at 35 and turbo time limit and ppo turbo time limit at 0 (TPL), set multiplier at 31. But the gpu heat is making my CPU run at 80°C.
I've set my fans running at full speed w/MacfansControl.
I've seen that some people where using MorePowerTool to control power, voltage and clock speed. I've tried many settings but it never fixed my GPU heat issue.
I've seen this guy video on youtube : , he's running his games around 80°C with a clock speed of 1300MHz w/november red drivers and no throttling, these performance are pretty far from what I'm having. I thought it was maybe because of my room temp, but I've tried putting my mac near my window (20°C outside) and it didn't fix a thing.
I read that someone on this forum replaced his thermal paste with liquid metal and that it's now running at 75°C, 52w and 1200mhz.
Would it be the only issue ?
I'm worried my GPU may have a technical problem... What do you guys think?
Hope you're all doing well!
Max
