Hi,
first of all thank your for your work Mat!
I opened this post to tell my experience and ask for some clarification, if it is possible.
I just bought the new imac 27' 5k (i had already an imac 27) with this configuration:
- i7 7700 4.2ghz
- 40 gigs of ram (8 giga standard + 32 crucial)
- SSD flash drive
- AMD Radeon Pro 580
Of course i installed immediatly bootcamp with windows 10. All perfect. So i launched some benchmarks with "performance test" and i got nice numbers on everything.
Then i downloaded and installed the latest adrenalin drivers from the main page here, i followed exactly the file "read me first" up tpo point nr. 9.
Again, all ok. At this point i have made the same benchmark test as before, this time the videos benchmark only.
I also want to remember that for both tests i have used STANDARD amd card configurations. I changed nothing in both case in the "amd radeon settings" panel.
Now i was a bit surprised with the results.
With adrenaline drivers on the 2D Test the results are worse than the test with the default bootcam video divers that are, if i dont remember bad, from first months of 2017. In the 3D test, i got a nice increase in almost everything!
Any idea why this weakness in the 2D? Would be nice to fix it properly too.
So now my questions:
1) How can i comeback to the default (as original new fresh windows 10 bootcam istallation) bootcamp video drivers? Can you please explain me the steps and where can i find the default bootcamp video drivers? (In the mac os if i open bootcamp assistant and i plug a usb pen, i only see the option to delete windows partition and not "download updated bootcamp driver" like i remember i had in the old imac 27)
2) Maybe i have to install somthing more of the adrenalin package? I see that there is an exe called Install Open CL..
Thank your for your patience and your time.
P.S. i attach here the benchmark file to see the difference between default drivers and adrenaline, maybe someone else may be interested to take a look.
Charlie.
