alright, i'll try to completely remove everything and reinstall clean. and i'll make sure that the box is unchecked.
as for the driver: HOLY FUCKING SHIT THE PERFORMANCE GAIN IS HUGE! i'm not kidding, i'm running GTA V nearly maxed out (except MSAA + additional settings like long shadows etc) at around 60 FPS. (except in grassy areas, i'll have to turn the grass settings down a notch.) (resolution: 1680x1050) in risen, i get like 10 fps more. the witcher 3 also gets like 10 fps more. (a mix of high and maxed out gets 40-60 fps, also 1680x1050.)
that's insane. i kid you not!

Yup many people noticed similar gains on other cards including mine too. I also disabled ULPS on your card too with the latest installer so that stops the card from downclocking at all which was what was happening to you previously with your fps dropping after a few minutes.

that's insane. but isn't locking the card to it's clock kinda dangerous if it gets too hot? or is there nothing to worry about?

Its not dangerous as the cooling fans will simply ramp up instead to offset. If its something you're still worried about then i recommend you download Macsfancontrol to make the cooling ramp up sooner and more aggressively.
Though with my m295x I've noticed that it isnt really needed. (and that one generates a LOT of heat). Its definitely needed for over clocking though

thanks! dude, you do impressive work!
could you help me with one more thing? the radeon settings don't autostart (i can do this myself but it's strange, it should do that..) and i can't find any of the relive features (no chill or relive streaming whatsoever, the radeon software looks exactly the way it did with the official apple drivers.)

I've got everything working correctly, however I can't open the "Radeon Additional Settings" from AMD Radeon Settings. Clicking on it causes the loading cursor to appear for a second and then nothing happens. I've tried reinstalling everything including running DDU in safe mode and running the radeon settings fix, but neither of those seemed to fix the issue. Any ideas?

I would run the radeon settings fix for several times until it works. Also try installing the opencl framework too.

Hmm I've tried running the radeon settings fix a dozen times - even restarting between attempts, and it didn't seem to help. I also selected the repair mode on the fix, but that didn't work either. I've installed the OpenCL framework again as well, but no dice.

Googling the issue most users seem to be able to resolve the issue by uninstalling via DDU in safe mode again and reinstalling.

Thanks! That did work. I also made sure to use the newest DDU from their site. It looks like there aren't too many options in the additional settings application - is that normal? I was expecting to see things like setting a custom resolution.

hey all, I have the new MBP with 460 pro video card. Should I install these drivers? I run overwatch and WoW...will try battlefield 1 as well. My experience so far is good but getting more FPS is always better. I am a little scared though after reading this thread...maybe I should wait for a more stable version of the drivers?
Right now I am running the default drivers that came with bootcamp.
Thanks!

The older posts in this thread are referring to an older version of the crimson drivers. They are now working just fine as of 16.12.1 and later for the new radeon cards in the touchbar mbp.

So I should download and install no problem? are there any downsides to doing so? I read in past posts there was trouble with overheating and fan issues...has that been resolved?

Those are no longer a problem. You get more fps and it even runs cooler with the modified drivers. You will see for yourself if you choose to install these drivers! Someone in the chat reports overwatch running at 60 - 70 degrees and thats also with relive streaming footage too. Pretty impressive low temps for a laptop!

Thats awesome, I am going to install these right away. Do I need install instructions or will downloading and running the .exe replace my old drivers with the new easily?
