With the recently released drivers, I was able to launch and play Starfield on my iMac Pro. It's the original base model (8-Core Xeon, 32 GB of RAM, Vega 56 w/ 8GB VRAM).
In the game, Steam showed that I was getting 20-25 FPS during game play with every graphics setting at the lowest setting. It would dip to 8 FPS when entering or exiting the menu to change armor and weapons. The XBOX game console showed that my CPU was only 30% utilized by my GPU was maxed out. After an hour of trying to tinker with graphics settings for some kind of 'optimal' experience, I decided to uninstall the game and request a refund through Steam.
Has anyone tried this with the Vega 64 model? I used to watch the weekly benchmarks on barefeats and I don't remember a significant performance difference from then, but maybe now the little difference would be enough to squeak out some better game play.
