I'm 99% sure the throttling issues on the 16" MBP are a firmware issue Apple would have to address, not something in the GPU drivers. On my machine the CPU actually throttles much harder than the GPU and that's not really driver managed at all.
I remember back when Apple first patched the 2018 15" MBP to improve its throttling issues, the fix only applied in macOS and not Windows. I'm guessing they have a way to tune thermal performance and clocks in macOS that they primarily use, and so they kind of neglect the firmware side that only Boot Camp really relies on. They later addressed it in firmware too so that Boot Camp was improved so maybe at some point they'll address it on the 16" too, but who knows.

Yeah that’s exactly the same texture issues I’m having. Well let's see what Mat has to say in regards to the drivers. I've sent through all the files recently along with a small contribution. I don't have a deep understanding for this side of things, however I'd imagine the 16gb ram built in to the GPU might add some level of complexity to the compatibility. Have you tested out any other new games such as Battlefield V? What is the likelihood that we will see official W5700x drivers?

I’m wondering if the drivers Mat compiles will be based on the newly released AMD 20.8.3 drivers released on 27/08/20. I agree, the 16GB VRAM probably sounds like it’ll add a layer of complexity to the compatibility success. Unfortunately I haven’t tried any other games I’m afraid. So I’m assuming you’ve sent him the official AMD Bootcamp drivers? Or is there more you’ve sent over..

Good to see you back Mat, 4 months on Ascension island sounds incredible.
Your April drivers have an issue with Windows 20xx and the 580 Pro, with even the Blue drivers having a Red driver like only half the screen rendered properly problem. Hopefully the new drivers will fix this.

What i did do is i lower my active signal to lower then 4K Res

Update: Progress going well so far. I'm probably about 2/3 of the way through the process now. I'll be adding 5600M and 5700XT (and other variants) all into one package (20.8.3). Things left to do: 1) Add the new cards to the manifest files. Done. 2) W5700X and similar variants to add to the driver package. Done. 3) Sign the driver. Done. 4) Test then release if happy with the results Done.

Agh I think I may have spoken too soon. The cross certificate I need to sign the driver has expired. So signing the driver actually doesn't work properly. I'll need to get in touch with the company who provides me with the certificate. I can still release these drivers today but they will require the user to go into test mode until I can resolve this.

Fixed. The timestamp address I was using to sign the drivers wasn't working either. Standby for test of the drivers.

Excited about the possibility of RX 5600M support. I have one of those MBPs, and the Boot Camp supplied AMD drivers do not seem to support Direct Display Mode, which if I understand it, is a prereq for using any modern VR headset, including my Rift S. Do you already have Boot Camp 5600M drivers to look at? If not, I can try to dig up a windowssupport.zip package for my system, although I don't remember having to download any file named that. Yeah, I'm keeping an eye on Direct Display Mode for VR support on the 5600m. It worked on a 5500m. I'm a VR developer at a studio and am happy to test any/all the headsets to figure this one out. I seriously have access to everything from Valve, hTC, and Oculus (including prototypes). I can confirm that both the Blue and Red Drivers had no effect on the Direct Display Mode for VR I tested the following headsets: - Oculus Rift (HDMI)
- Oculus Rift S (Displayport)
- hTC Vive (HDMI and Displayport)
- hTC Vive Pro (Displayport)
- Valve Index (Displayport)
I tested all items with many different adapters including USB-C to HDMI (tried 4 different adapters), USB-C to Displayport (tried 3 different adapters), Thunderbolt 3 to Displayport.

This is a mighty shame. I wonder if its something I can able via the installer itself... though I don't know which line of code it would be I must admit (if its even a thing).

Yeah, and they are also hard crashing and rebooting if I try to use Oculus Quest via Link or wirelessly (with Virtual Desktop). This also includes the official AMD BootCamp drivers for the 5600M MacBook Pro. I have no issues with any of this on the iMac Pro with Vega 64 with Mat's drivers or the stock ones. I think it's a bug in AMD's drivers, that they likely won't ever fix because there are so few users. Thank God for the iMac Pro! But I really would have loved to do PCVR on the laptop too.

If enough of you report the bug to AMD then they may well implement a fix.
