Hello everyone,
I have a 15 inch MacBook Pro from 2018 with a Radeon Pro 555X graphics card and am wondering which driver to use for gaming, Red or Blue Edition.
In the download section it mentions the Blue Edition gives the best FPS for 16 inch MacBook Pros and for 500-series iMacs. Does that mean it is the preferred one for gaming for these models, rather than the Red Edition? Also, my machine has a 500-series graphics card, but is neither a 16 inch MacBook Pro nor an iMac, and the instruction video mentions the "555" but not the "555X", so I am yet again confused whether the Blue Edition would be the one to use.
Could you help me out?
Thanks in advance. Starflower

I use the MBP 15-inch 2017 with the Radeon Pro 555. To be honest, I think they are pretty similar, looking at the spec sheet here – www.notebookcheck.net/Radeon-Pro-555X-vs-Radeon-Pro-555_8892_8064.247598.0.html. I am using the Blue April 2020 drivers. I primarily do some photo/video editing and emulated gaming (Cemu and yuzu). The performance is great. I have tried Forza Horizon 4 on it, 1080p Medium and sometimes high. I get full 60FPS on it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that. After you post I tried the Blue April 2020. By itself it did not give me a noticeable FPS boost. But more importantly, it did not allow me to overclock using MSI Afterburner and the AMD software does not have to Tuning toggles either. I then did a clean install of the Red and now overclocking works with both MSI Afterburner _and_ the AMD tool (after unlocking the feature itself via Afterburner). I use the AMD tool btw. But, again, thank you very much for your response.
So my verdict: 15 inch MBP 2018, Radeon 555X => Red Edition

Sorry if I didn't help much. However, if you decide to go for Blue Editions in the future, you can unlock overclocking by... Well, after digging around, it seems you just need to change ODNX2UnofficalOverclocking to 1 in the "MSIAfterburner.cfg" file. You can edit this using Notepad. Then overclocking will be unlocked. Remember to go into MSI Afterburner settings and change Unofficial overclocking mode from disabled to either with or without PowerPlay support. Personally I do not overclock but thought it would be helpful.

Oh, OK, didn't know you could do that. Thanks for pointing it out.
