Hello all,
I am currently using the official drivers on my MBP w/5600m and I don't really have many complains.. it used to throttle but I fixed that with the VRM mod.
I am thinking of upgrading to the latest drivers on this website but I have two main concerns:
1. Clamshell mode: I play 100% of the time using clamshell mode. I have had no issues with default official driver. With my last MBP with the 5500m (which I returned to apple). I had a issue when clamshell mode, that the screen was flickering like crazy afterwards, some sort of hardware damage, and it had the unofficial drivers from here. Not sure if this was the reason, but I do not want to risk my MBP. Can someone confirm with me that clamshell mode works normally without problem with unoficial drivers?
2. VR also is working quite good - if I cannot do VR then I won't upgrade to unofficial drivers. Anyone?
The reason for me to upgrade to unofficial drivers is because I might get better performance (is this true?)
Thanks

You should try setting windows power options so that it doesn't do anything when you close the lid. Theoretically it should allow you to close the lid (turn off the internal display) and still be able to use the laptop. You do not have to use Windows-P and set to "use external (or secondary) display only". Do you have an external monitor?
