Revert back to August edition. I was previously running the August Blue drivers (however, Red was working too). Should I expect the same scare with the October Blue drivers?

Even booting in MacOS the fans/temps showed no excess (1200rpm) when the flickering occurred. I have been simming with the GPU in the 90-100 degree range and the fans ramped up to 2700 but never had any glitch, freeze or blue screen related to that. This clearly looked like something on a firmware level got corrupted for some time. PS: The flickering eventually seems to have stopped

These drivers push the GPU's capabilities to stock AMD card capabilities which is usually higher than the default Apple drivers.

Has anyone been able to compare the performance of October Reds vs the recently updated Oct AMD drivers on a 16” 5500 8gb?

Tested out Oct release first thing once got my MBP 16 back from repair. Disappointed to see 5300M memory clock still running at full speed 1500MHz during idle... no ULPS
p.s. Installed AMD official Oct release, driver date is at 10 Sep, ULPS is in place, during idle core clock 0MHz, memory 190MHz

Installed October Red on the MBP 16inch 5300M using the driver update method. Seemed to run ok, but had a few graphics glitches in the games I tried (Doom Eternal / Mad Max / RE2) plus noticed lower framerates. Went back to April Blue, still seem to be the most consistent for me outputting steady 75fps to an external monitor. glitches detected in Division 2 as well, and game crashes constantly after playing for around 10-15min perhaps august release is the most stable one to go

Hi Matt, I am experiencing DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG The application's device failed due to badly formed commands sent by the application. This is a design-time issue that should be investigated and fixed. Could this be related due to the changes that you have done in OCT release? Otherwise, it might be the new logic board that the apple put in on my 16inch. I will start complaining again about that.

I have hardly done any changes really between august and october. try going back to august edition and see if you get the same issue.

Hi Mat. Have you been able to identify the issue with the 27" iMac 2020 w/ 5700XT 16gb? I've been using your drivers for years (I had the same late 2014 iMac you have) so I'm pretty familiar with the install process and I was careful to follow the instructions. When I tried the Oct Red version the installer for some reason thinks I have two monitors and I get a split screen (when I checked Display Adaptors I saw two installs - sry I didn't take a screen shot and I've had to reinstall the factory drivers because I use this for work). I tried the install several times with the Oct edition and once with the Aug just to see if the same thing was happening (the Aug ed also did the same thing). So I'm not sure if this was user error on my part or if the AMD installer is broken. Has anyone else had this issue?

I would say try the blue version

Hey all
I have the April drivers installed on my base 16 in. Can I install the October drivers right over them or do I need to use DDU?

Hey all I have the April drivers installed on my base 16 in. Can I install the October drivers right over them or do I need to use DDU? Device manager update instructions for MacBook Pro 16" and Mac Pro 2019+ Begin with stock official Apple BootCamp drivers installed (do not uninstall with DDU or use setup.exe). If you have January edition installed on your MacBook Pro 16" then you can start with these drivers instead. Open 'Device Manager' (search for it in the search box) and select your GPU from the 'Display adaptors' drop-down. Right-click and select "Update driver" . Select "Browse my computer for drivers" (lower option) and navigate to the downloaded drivers folder. Make sure the 'Include subfolders' checkbox is ticked then click 'Next'. The driver will now update with the screen flickering a couple of times. To install the AMD software run "setup.exe" from the downloaded driver folder. Click on "Additional Options". Make sure the "Factory reset" checkbox is NOT ticked (it isn't by default normally), then click install. Restart and enjoy!
