I have a strange problem which was not happening before (still on April blue drivers, as many was reporting problems with the newest version).
I'm playing CS:GO, using Windows 10 bootcamp, mostly all of the settings set to low, resolution set to 1080p. I'm also capping the framerates to 150-200, just not to over load the GPU. The same goes with CPU - with a QuickCPU I've set my CPU to run only at 2,6 with no turbo, with max W set to 25W. MacFanControls set to full blast of cource.
All goes smooth at the begging (when my frames are uncapped I'm seeing 350 to 450 frames), but after only 10 minutes of gaming (sometimes even faster) I'm starting to noticeing drops to like 30-40 fps for 2-3 second, after which all goes back to normal and stay there for another 30-40 seconds - I know the we have thermal limitations in this slim chassis, but I'm no seeing my CPU going over 75-80 degrees and GPU going over 68-72.
I was not playing for a while, but I remember playing at 1440p before my gaming break, where I of course had less frames, but rather stable - any ideas what happened that my MBP obviously pulling down GPU to 100-400MHz and that wy I'm seeing these constant drops?

VRM throttling. Run MSI Afterburner and watch your CPU and GPU temps and power usage. You should probably signs of power usage going down even when temps aren't maxing at 100C. E.g. possibly your GPU initially starts at 45W and CPU 25W, but later GPU and CPU can only use 45W max at 80C.

So there is no other option than VRM mode under the bottom chassis?

It's the best option I know of so far: actual improvement, reversible and not voiding warranty.
I play CSGO too and have similar Mbp as yours with 5600M and i9 2.3Ghz. I have done the VRM cooling mod with a thermal pad but only partially. Currently at 3840x2160 highest, shader high, no MSAA, FXAA on, anisotropic 4x, it starts out at 80-90 fps at CPU:97C GPU:88C with 70W+ power draw, and after 10 min, it settles to less stable 60-90 fps at 82C with 55W power draw.
Even with only partially increasing the heat dissipation on the VRM parts I saw good results, so hoping that with fully doing it (waiting on second bottom case so I can remove black insulating tape without voiding warranty), I can maintain 70W+ power draw and thus performance.

Do you have any photos from your mod? Where did you purchase the new bottom cover?
