Just a quick note, nice to see Mat back... I just got a new MBP 16 (as my previous one needed a logic board replacement). I was one of the few that had zero issues with April 2020 edition (no black screen)... I was nervous about August since my new Mac needed the entire windows stack installed. I had success today installing August 2020 drivers, directly so wanted to share: 1) installed latest windows 10 via bootcamp from MS website (as of 20th Sep 2020). 2) downloaded Aug 2020 drivers from bootcampdrivers.com 3) Updated and activated windows as much as possible. 4) used DDU to 3x uninstall and reboot. 5) Went to device manager, and clicked on MS basic display driver --> update --> pointed it at the folder with the bootcampdrivers Aug2020. 6) installed successfully and rebooted Now all is working on Aug2020, with a brand new 16MBP with 5500M 4GB... Anyone else seeing this work ? Yeah no issue with 5500M except the normal throttling (and I have added thermal padding). I’d be interested in a driver version with the power saving mode on. Yeah it would drop frames but so does throttling...

I keep getting ERR_GFX_STATE in Red Dead Redemption 2 after around 10 minutes of gaming on my 5600M MBP 16. I installed the August Blue driver. Any help?

Yeah it would drop frames but so does throttling... it's the most known error in RDR2 and it's not because of graphic card. The game is fucked up, you need to delete some files. Read about it here: www.reddit.com/r/RDR2/comments/dxlreb/err_gfx_state/I had to do this more than a dozen of times and on NVIDIA and AMD cards...

It could be related, but my Radeon Pro 555, on 20.8.3, GPU doesn't show up anymore in Task Manager. Just saw today.

With the August drivers now installed. Try running the August edition WITHOUT factory reset box checked. It should just install the radeon software then. Ah, this solved it so far! Thank you so much! The software opens just fine. I have not tested the performance yet in terms of the input lag and screen tearing, I'll get to it ASAP. However, there is one last thing which I am noticing, and that is Radeon ReLive still does not work. I have installed the OpenCL SDK and I am still getting the "green screen" thing, and I can only see the mouse cursor. Since our situations are so unique, google researching doesn't seem to help. Most people solve this issue by updating their drivers... Anyway, just wanted to say thank you so much for your help and the updated drivers! If the ReLive has a solution, that would be great! Thanks! Hey all!
I can confirm with the same laptop build, this process worked for me too!

I wish I could even get RD2 to launch the game window. It's the only game that I can't get to launch. January drivers will launch, but they generally crash some time later.

Adrenalin August Blue enterprise edition also works well with iMac 5k 2017 Radeon Pro 580. Blue is better for fps than Red for me. After all, Red is better for fps than Blue. Did Relive work for you? , My iMac 4k 2017 R560Pro just gives a green screen when recording..

There are various "solutions" to thermal throttling circulating on youtube/the forums etc. I cannot comment as I don't own the laptop in question. My own imac suffers from thermal throttling if I don't use macsfancontrol to aggressively ramp up the fans way sooner than in apples own firmware. This video seems legit though: Mat. I've watched all those videos and tried all those tweaks. I really wanted this to be my all around gaming machine, but its just flawed to the core. Im sitting here watching my AB overlay showing the GPU only getting 20w and its sitting at 500mhz in GTAV. WHY is it doing that? The temp is 74c and its 99% maxed out utilization. This is a 55w GPU and should be pegged at 50+ watts and 1200mhz or more when its within its temp range. Yet for some reason its not. This is the problem and I just dont know how to fix it. Man I wish I could talk to an apple engineer about this. Hey, check this thread bootcampdrivers.freeforums.net/thread/699/macbook-16inch-throttle-technical-details?page=6Essentially, you can solve thermal throttling but it's unsafe so do at your own risk. The guys there are talking about BD PROCHOT, which is essentially a signal sent both to cpu and gpu when cpu reaches a certain temp. I use MorePowerTool to set minimum gpu clock at 1350Mhz, lock the cpu at 3.2Ghz and disable BD PROCHOT using QuickCPU. I always keep MSI afterburner on to have the cpu and gpu temps in front of me and set fans to full blast in MacsFanControl. Here's a screenshot from MH:W after running it for quite a while, the temps in the top left corner is what you should expect in virtually any game with this setup so be wary. Also I'm running April blue drivers since this version seems to be the most stable for MH:W.

So I went to test this to other games and encountered something described here: https://www.reddit.com/r/bootcamp/comments/g0im9e/for_everyone_with_gpu_throttling_issues_at_80_c/
There OP states that even with BD PROCHOT off the power delivery gets halved at temperatures around 85c until it reaches about 75c, the gpu clock remains the same but vram clock goes down drastically on 25 watts. I'm seeing this in the Witcher 3 and GTA V, but not in MH:W. That I've been able to heat up to 95c and I highly don't recommend pushing your precious expensive laptop that much. Not sure on how to fix that except for thermal pads, elevation, cooling stand(?), min-maxing the GPU and CPU clocks, as well as voltages but I'll keep looking.

Actually it seems like it does much better with the latest 20.10 driver from AMD and the minimum frequency set to 1200. So far I haven't observed any sudden drops in power draw and the game is glued at 60 fps. MH:W also seems to be stable so far.

So, as a conclusion, installing the official bootcamp drivers, and then using device manager to point to the august red folder successfully updated the driver, however, I can’t access the Radeon pro control panel at all. The good news is: Warzone runs at 100 FPS at the same settings from earlier. Also, we still have no more rainbow texture bugs. So I’m assuming it seems like there’s something with the Adrenalin software itself in the august version that’s not playing very nice with warzone, giving it 20-40 FPS. However, to repeat, now that we installed the official bootcamp drivers, and updated them with the august red drivers via device manager - gameplay is fixed. But no access to the graphics control panel, as it says the driver and the control panel version is mismatched. arjunchawda how is Warzone working at the moment with your above config?
