Hello All, I just called with Apple this afternoon about my MacBook's thermal issue, and they provided a way that may be helpfu by resetting the system management controller. support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295 Don't know if anyone tried this but I thought it might be useful to share it here. I can't guarantee it will work because I don't have a direct comparison on the performance before and after, just deleted my bootcamp system a while ago. I did tried it after I reinstalled the bootcamp without any third-party software chaning the system performance such as ThrottleStop and MorePowerTool, and I believe my laptop performed a little better than it was when at the same enviornment. Do you still have GPU throttling issues? That’s what’s important to know, if we’re all pretending we solved the issue without actual proofs, we are far from finding a solution. I appreciate you’re trying to help but I think it’s important we test the things we say before posting on this forum so we can make it a more productive place.

Yes I tried this method again today with a prolonged period of time, looks like the GPU throttling still presists 20 mins after starting the game. I had the illusion it worked yesterday How can I delete this thread?

I have tried every snake oil fix i could find on the web. One thing dramatically helped and one fixed it completely.
1. I have the back of my macbook propped up with a marker cap. It raises the bottom off the table, and lets the intakes get cooler air from around the laptop. Also I have my AC on in the house and the vent on the ceiling points at where Im sitting, so the laptop is getting ultra cold air going straight at it. This has slowed the throttling to maybe an hour of gaming before it drops the GPU clocks. Yes this is not a fix, but its something.
2. (You're not going to like this one). I use an eGPU now. Not only has this stopped the GPU throttling because its not even being used anymore, but the CPU no matter the temp, sits at its boost clock of 4107 the entire time of gaming. Its the best case scenario. I bought a razer core X and I had a 2080 Super ($1000 total setup), and I can game at the native resolution of the screen fully maxed out in just about any game I have, as well as patch the GPU directly to my 4k monitor and get even better performance because the signal is not traveling back to the mac.
Sorry to say, these are the only things that have helped. One is stupid and the other takes away your mobility and in my case added another $1000 to the price of this macbook.
Bottom line, this sucks that my $3k macbook cant handle gaming for more than 15 minutes before it throttles itself to the basement and it becomes useless.
