Hi guys,
I decided to create this thread because it seems that this subject is spread among almost any thread I came across here without any real fix to the issue.
I have been facing a disturbing problem during gaming on my 16" MacBook Pro 5300M model, I experience major FPS drops in almost any game I play after aprox 20ish min, so I decided to install MSI Afterburner to check where the problem comes from..
It seems from what I saw that these drops occur when the CPU goes under 2000Mhz, well for starters this Mac isn't on paper supposed to CPU throttle thanks to its new thermal design but also because the CPU temps are in the mid 80's
I tried an app called QuickCPU to limit the power given to the CPU and to force its clock at a specific range but in actual use it does close to nothing, the clock speed quickly drops to as low as 1300MHz and this is really a nightmare.
I hope you guys can help me out because I am kind of lost and I start losing hope of gaming on the side which is unfortunate because these machines - equipped with NAVY graphics- are more than capable for gaming..
Many Thanks 🙏
