Hey folks, there is a new official AMD boot camp driver out: www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/apple-boot-campYes, its written for Pro 5600M only and when you try to install it on another graphic card you will be unlucky as your installation is getting refused. But no worries, there is some kind of workarround (at least for a Pro 5500M which I own myself). But be sure to do the following guide on your own risk! It was working for me but must not for you. First download the driver and unpack it. Now uninstall your current driver, restart Windows and open the device manager. Here you have to choose "update driver", then "browse my computer for drivers" and at least "Let me pick from a list...". Here click "Have Disk..." and in the next dialog click "Browse". Navigate to the downloaded driver folder and open Packages > Drivers > Display > WT6A_INF > C0354532.inf. After you have confirmed you will get a list of drivers. Scroll down and select AMD Radeon Pro 5600M. Now click next and confirm the warning with "Yes". After doing so the driver gets installed (which could take some time). After its finished restart again and enjoy the new driver. And yes, your graphic card will be now displayed as 5600M. But that does not matter as the based driver architecture is the same. After this driver update I was succesfully playing Resident Evil 2 Remake, Doom 2016 and Streets of Rage 4 with no issues. Also Game Streaming with Stadia was working normally. I haven't looked at the temps but I had the feeling that the fans are less annyoing. And one more thing, if you ever had the problem with fullscreen and the wrong scaling with the official boot camp drivers (anything less than the native resolution was putting a small window in the top left corner) its finally fixed with this one! Feel free to update now.

Hi can you explain by no issues? What driver did you have installed before. I am currently on April's blue drivers on MacBook pro 16 5500 pro and was wondering if updating will improve constant fps. Thanks

Dont do what hes talking about, but the best driver for you is the January 2020 Blue driver. That is the best for the MBP 16" with the 5300/5500. Trust me its your best best at this time.

By the way I tried your method with the 5600m driver for my 5500m, and it didnt work at all. The performance was single digit FPS. The card was totally locking up even after several reboots. Please dont anyone try this. Back on the January 2020 Blue drivers, Im working again perfectly.

Can confirm hmstyles method works fine on base 5300m / 4gb model. I've avoided the bootcamp drivers on here as i'm a bit cautious about my GPU but this official 5600m manual driver install as mentioned above does work. Witcher 3, Fallout 4 and Crysis 3 all working perfectly in full screen mode 1920 x 1200 at about 60fps on medium / high. AMD really need to get their act together on the official 5300m / 5500m drivers to give us full screen at lower resolutions but this works till the day they do get updated.

I've also done the OP's method to install this 5600 driver on the 5500 (4gb) and it works well. Actually, is it just me, or does this seem to have notably less throttling issues than the modded drivers? Getting way less framedrops in Overwatch.

Hi,
i am using the AMD 5600 card with the official bootcamp driver. But if you know Apple the driver Version is old. Is there a way to use the new AMD Drivers for the 5600 card?

Hi Flasher111
Nope, unfortunately if you want to stick to the "official" Apple / AMD Bootcamp drivers your limited to the version they release on the AMD driver website. This bootcampdrivers website provides modified drivers which allow us to install AMD's latest Red or Blue driver software but you have to follow the instructions and will be at your own risk. There can also be issues with these modified drivers as you will see in these forums pages.
Its a real shame Apple / AMD won't pull their fingers out and keep their drivers at least fairly up to date but its not surprising! (and i'm an Apple fan!)

Created an account just to reply to this post. I had issues with gpu scaling not working just like most people resulting in a small window in the top left (no changing the windows resolution and playing in windowed mode did not work. Upon changing the windows resolution, it would resize the screen for half a second and jump back to 4k immediately. Also i experienced throttling severly to the point where my cpu and gpu were simply cold, and nonetheless, spot on, after about half an hour the performance dropped in half untill i turned the machine off again. I used the official bootcamp drivers, having these issues, as well as the 5500m official drivers from the amd website. I then switched to both the red and blue versions of this website which were great. they fixed the throttling issues mostly for me, but i still had scaling issues. And worse, if i change the gpu-scaling in the blue or red driver settings, i get a black screen causing a crash and reboot. Somehow the drivers remembered the gpu scaling setting, not allowing me to ever install them again. even cleaning with DDU several times, as soon as i install the red or blue drivers, a black screen on boot with a crash ensued. Probably because it remembered me turning on GPU scaling. I saw the drivers on the AMD website had a new release for the 5600m but not the 5500m. cue my disappointment. i tried installing them but failing. I then tried the workaround in this post and low and behold. scaling works perfectly. i can natively change the windows resolution again. and fullscreen gaming at lower res also works. the drivers also seem to have no issue whatsoever with overheating or crashing on my MBP 2019 november 5500m 4gb, even though they are meant for the 5600m. Performance seems to be slightly better as well than i had with the april red driver up to the moment i couldnt run it anymore. zxmustang this entire website is full of enthousiasts trying unofficial drivers, and you're telling people for whom it works better to stick with the 'safe' unofficial drivers than spoofing a signature from official drivers. I state my experience above just like you, unfortunately with very different results. the more people like us, the better our understanding of proper drivers for everyone, regardless of risk. I genuinely miss the red driver settings and hope the next version can integrate whatever version of driver is out on amd's own official website right now. because for some people, it works without any bugs for several weeks now, having been tested through its paces. I honestly wonder what caused this to not work for you, im willing to give you all the details of what i did and what specs i have to make it work for you too. flasher111 amd releases the official unmodified bootcamp drivers on their own website www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/apple-boot-camp

Hey Guys,
I have the 16” 5500M with 8gb mbp, and the 5600M drivers are working perfectly. I’m still able to tweak the GPU with MorePowerTool so that’s perfect. I had the black screen issue when launching games with the April Drivers on this forum, so that’s really cool to be able to finally play with the latests drivers.
There’s no temp/throttling improvement while gaming, compared to the January Red V2.
It improved a lot my gaming experience on Horizon Zero Dawn, I used to have some freeze/severe stutters while gaming, now they are completely gone.
For those of you having issues with thermal throttling, just want to point out that room temp is really important for your GPU to avoid throttling. I tested the same game at 30°C and 23°C and had no throttling with temps around 75°C at 23°C but at 30°C it throttled after 10mins with a GPU temp of +84°C. I guess we’ll no more have throttling issues during Winter.

Actually, is it just me, or does this seem to have notably less throttling issues than the modded drivers? Getting way less framedrops in Overwatch. You'd need to run an overlay from afterburner or something to see if you are not getting bad throttling or frame drops. This is what I want to see, not the placebo results from people claiming it seems better. I did his method to a T, and it destroyed my performance even in windows. Forget gaming, I wasnt even able to launch a game. I was getting stuttering on just using the desktop.

People on this forum need to understand that if we want to try and find a fix for throttling issues, we need to use the scientific method, not the “it seems like...”. I tested the 5600M drivers, I can tell there’s no temp/throttling improvement while gaming, compared to the January Red V2 (and all other drivers actually because this is not a driver issue.) GPU always on the high 70°C and throttling when it reaches 80°C. Also, installing the 5600M drivers I had backlighting blinking when rebooting on Mac OS and had to do a clean install of Mac OS to get rid of it. So be careful! The only clue I have telling me it’s 5600M driver and not a hardware problem is that I Never experienced it before with other drivers and when I boot in safe mode the issue disappeared. (For more details, check out my thread “ Windows drivers harmed Mac OS.”)

It's not as up to date as I wish but it gets the job done !
