MBP 2019 16" with eGPU and Vega 56 - can't seem to get past Code 12 error. Anyone have the same issue and get around it? OMG same I’ve tried everything, if you somehow get it to work please post it here, thank you . Use the following guide if you keep seeing ‘Code 12’ with your eGPU in device manager: egpu.io/forums/pc-setup/egpu-fail-after-update-to-windows-19-03/

Thanks Mat - I've been through that. I previously had an eGPU RX580, which rolling back to previous windows update fixed. For some reason, the Vega 56 just won't work with all the common/documented workarounds.

Everything works, including hot-plugging eGPU on any of the 4 ports.
I did run into the Error 12 problem once with this version (using the proper version of Windows 10 as recommended per egpu.io) and it transpired that somehow the eGPU was given the same memory address as the dGPU, the workaround was to disable / remove the PCIe Controller hosting the dGPU in Device Manager, hotplugging the eGPU then re-enabling the controller / re-scanning for device changes. Everything then worked correctly and this persisted across reboots, both dGPU and eGPU available for use.
N.B. You can check details of why the device failed to activate in Device Manager. In my case it was due to conflicting addresses (verified by showing resources instead of devices, then checking the address for each resource).
Repeated hot-plugging and hot-removing of any TB3 device does cause the system to seize up completely, though, so it is definitely not recommended. I have found that the most stable way to get things to work for me is to boot Windows with nothing connected, then hot-plug eGPU on the machine’s left side, then hot-plug the TB3 dock on the right side, then plug the power supply, etc.
I also have the issue of ReLive capturing green screen and cursor only. This happens with Vega 64 (8GB) eGPU. As Mat mentioned this sounds like an AMD bug then. Native capture via Game Bar works but with quite a few audio glitches.

Hello Mat,
I've tried the red version on 2017 iMac and RP 580, but there was the same splited screen problem than with the older red versions. The blue enterprise had made windows crashing over and over so i'll try red version v2 and tell you.
Thank you again,
Alex

Tested these and can confirm that Integer Scaling doesnt work for 1536x960 On 16 inch buildin display. The option showed up on extrernal display however That's a bit weird. Perhaps the OS outright refuses to accept that as a valid resolution. I should have be more clear about that. Apparently IS setting is set per display. Option to enable it shows up on settings for my external display, but for the buildin display it just doesn't appear. The 1536x960 resolution works but it still seems blurry for me, like I'm not sure but I think it doesnt work. I checked the scaling however on my monitor and got perfectly sharp pixel art. Are there any hardware requirements for display for it to work? I'm curious if theres a way to force it somehow. The driver performance however is BANANAS! Runs most of the newer AAA titles in native resolution and gaming on retina feels superb. Titles I tried with native resolution: Forza Horizon 4 Halo Reach Age of Empires 2 definitive edition I also tried: Wolfenstein II new colossus GTA IV Metro Exodus and these also runs great, but my gpu is throttling, starting ag 1250mhz and sometimes 1450mz and feels super smooth and then gradually falling to 800mhz, then 700mhz. Mat, to you think there's an option to somehow handle this throttling on driver level?

Not at a driver level, but I recommend you enabling radeon chill and/or setting an fps limit in your games as the throttling is due to the card getting too warm most probably.

I don’t seem to be seeing the same drastic performance boost that most of you are mentioning with these drivers. I ran the division 2 benchmark on the drivers supplied with boot camp, the experimental dec 2019 edition and the most recent 2020 version V1. 16 inch Macbook pro 2.3ghz i9, AMD Radeon Pro 5500M(8GB) Division 2 1920x1200. Graphics on High preset Stock bootcamp amd driver: Score: 4519 FPS: 50 Video Driver: 26.20.13003.5002 Division 2 1920x1200. Graphics on High preset (Don't have the screenshot for this but remember the FPS, surprisingly it was lower) December 2019 adrenalin driver Score: Score 4490 FPS: 49 Division 2 1920x1200. Graphics on High preset Adranalin 2020 Driver: Score: 4690 FPS: 52 Video Driver: 26.20.15003.5016 Prior to each driver being installed DDU was used in safe mode. Not sure if its just this game but I didn't notice any difference when running Unigen Heaven benchmark either(I tested that with V2 since that was better for benchmarking software, didnt notice any difference with FPS). Going to the desktop from War Thunder using the Windows (command) key and going back into the game will give a black screen. The game crashes afterwards.
The game is free to download, so if you have any Mac, you can easily check it.
Tested on 2018 MBP with i9 and Vega 20 and with V2 red gaming drivers.

This issue is reported on the official PC driver too. Apparently if you turn off enhanced sync that has fixed the issue for some people.

Hey Mat, is there a wat to get RIS (Image Sharpening) on Macbook ? Also how do you downscale a resolution like you did for the two resolutions in the new driver. Great work btw, thank you so much for making gaming on Mac more enjoyable.

It's probably for the newer and higher-end Macs.

Has anyone tried this on the 2019 iMac with 580x yet? I want to install but I am just a bit concerned about the dual screen issues.

Thanks for replying anyway
