Please note: this is currently untested and is based on both Adrenalin 19.12.1 from AMD and the official BootCamp drivers by Apple/AMD. There is no eGPU support out-of-the-box just yet (that requires a lot more work and is coming soon). Though you should be able to install AMD's official driver for your eGPU (not including BlackMagic eGPUs of course). Please test and report back findings. If the initial results are good I'll add the drivers to the website's main page. DOWNLOADDecember edition coming very soon for all other Mac users. Thanks! Hi Mat, The drivers seem to work for the first few minutes and I'm seeing solid 10-15 fps boost in Overwatch and PUBG. But after a few minutes my GPU clock drops from around 1000 MHz to 560Mhz. This drops FPS significantly. GPU temp goes up to 92C and then hovers at 78C. Do you think this is a driver problem or is the Mac just not good at cooling? My specs are: 16 inch Macbook pro 2.3 i9, 5500M 8GB, 32GB ram Could be thermal issues or a driver issue. AMD is the one who modifies the firmware I just make it work for Mac graphics cards 😉

Sorry I’m a little confused can we use an egpu with these or no since I tried a bunch of things to get it to work without the drivers and it wouldn’t work and I really don’t want to go through that again if it won’t work

What tool(s) are you using ot measure those? I am not sure where/how to monitor those so I can compare to see if similar things are happening on my system as a cross-check. Thanks for sharing.

I can just say that up until now they're running great; I ran Batman Arkham Knight and The Witcher 3 both scaled down to 1200p and worked without a hitch. Wish I had ReLive though to capture some gaming footage to share, but otherwise great job man, thanks for these drivers. I think that they can only get better from here on out. My system is the one with a 2.3 i9, 32GB Ram, and a 5500M 8GB for reference, if by any chance anything else comes up, I will keep you posted, one question though. Every time you release updated drivers, do I have to uninstall the previous ones to install the new ones, or can I just upgrade immediately, cuz going into safe mode and doing everything is a bit of a hassle.

I recommend uninstalling current drivers. I have to boot into safe mode countless times to test/uninstall/reinstall tweaked drivers before I can release them. If you just install the updated driver over the current one then you are more likely to encounter post-installation issues.

I remember on the original bootcamp drivers, i get the small window when i lower resolution, and messed with DPI scaling and it looked horrible when playing at lower than 1080p for stable framerate

Will anyone here be testing out how the 16" MacBook Pro performs in Yuzu emulator when Vulkan for it becomes available and with these drivers soon?
It's already able to do 1440p smoothly in Modern Warfare. It'd be an even more impressive feat for Apple standards to emulate Switch games.
Seeing RPCS3 run on i9 and 8GB 5500M would be great as well!

Anyone who’s running a 5300M? Wondering if these drivers makes the 5500M perform better than 5300M as with apple drivers they perform the same or the 5300M is better cause of less throttling and more stable fps. Still 4 weeks left to return the 5500M 8GB in that case cause I don’t like the idea of spending 200 eur more for worse performance

I haven’t collected all of the specific data but I’ve been running Modern Warfare at medium-high settings with 1x AA and it’s never dropped below 60 FPS. Resolution is like 1440p. Thank you for modifying these drivers everything is running great for me! I have the 6 core i7/16GB ram/5500 8GB.
I also have not experienced any dip in performance due to thermal throttling. Fans will kick in but the system seems to get everything under control quickly and performance is consistent. I wonder if the throttling issues are with extra heat generated by the i9? I would be curious if any i9 users get better performance with one of those thermal pads.
Either way, thank you for all you do. I only recently discovered your site but I’m happy to say you’ve turned my new MacBook Pro into an excellent gaming rig!

Running 8c i9 with the 5500 4GB
did a few tests in boot camp
AC - Odessey - full res 25-35 FPS scaled down a touch yielded 40+ pretty easily Overwatch on Ultra never dropped below 60 full res
ran these around midnight before bed so i didnt get a full list of settings.
Ill test out more games tonight and document what’s everything is set to.

Don't have a 16", still happy with my 2016 15", but wanted to chime in some thanks for all the personal time you put into this!
Working around hardware issues for hardware you donm't have access to must be frustrating - hopefully one monthly release (with some v2s etc for months when things change) keeps it emotionally sustainable for you.

Got the 2.3GHz i9/5500M 4GB config, FFXIV runs great (nearly locked 60fps) with almost everything max (except HBAO+ dropped to "standard") at 1920x1200. Actually fixed an issue I was having with the official driver where the game wouldn't scale to fill the screen too, haha. Thanks so much for all the work you do on these drivers!

Was a last minute (Black Friday discounted) purchase when it dawned on me that this machine could also game. I had some issues with the shaders right away but Mat's AMD drivers have resolved that. I have seen threads about the crashing but it sounds like the more recent patches have resolved it.
