I would like to attempt to stream VR content to an HTC Vive Focus+, using AMD ReLive for VR (which I believe is part of AMD Radeon™ Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition), with a 16’’ MBP (5500M 8GB) running Windows 10 via Boot Camp.I managed to set up PCVR using Riftcat’s VRidge on my Late 2016 15” MBP (Radeon Pro 460 4GB) a while back, but needless to say games were lagging so much that they became completely unplayable. For this old setup, AMD ReLive wasn’t an option, as the Radeon Pro 460 was too out-dated and I wasn’t even able to find the VR streaming setting in the Adrenalin 2019 Edition. I have a bit more confidence that this new fully specced 16 “ MBP might be able to perform a bit better. It says on AMD’s website that "Radeon™ ReLive Wireless VR is compatible with: AMD Radeon™ RX 570, RX 580, RX 590 & RX Vega series products.”. I realise that the 5500 Series isn’t included in the description, but perhaps the website just hasn't been updated? Regardless, it would be cool if the Adrenalin December edition could include the AMD ReLive Wireless VR support for the Pro 5500M. Thanks UPDATE 2019.12.19: Wireless PCVR using ReLive is working with the Adrenalin 2020 red drivers that were released today! ---> bootcampdrivers.freeforums.net/thread/563/adrenalin-2020-edition-users-released

This sounds really interesting. I don't have the Focus Plus, but it looks like this would work with Oculus Quest as well (https://www.reddit.com/r/eGPU/comments/dyha5i/has_anyone_tried_oculus_link_with_an_egpu/f85t3og/). Incoming 16 inch in the next days (5500M 4GB). Hoping to try this out with the Quest if the drivers work

From reddit: "I have ReLive working with a Blackmagic AMD eGPU and Windows 10 in Boot Camp, using modified drivers from bootcampdrivers.com. The setup is a little finicky — I have a CalDigit TS3 dock, and if both it and the eGPU are connected at startup, Windows 10 won't boot (I just connect it after Windows boots and it works fine).
The Radeon software loads fine at launch and ReLive also works. I disabled 2.4GHz on my router to force the Quest to connect at 5GHz, and performance is pretty consistent and reliable."

Very much looking forward to this if it can be made to work. I have tried out Oculus Link for the Quest and some things work OK but quite a bit is jittery. Then again, they don't support any AMD cards at this point, so I'm not surprised if it doesn't work well. This looks like an interesting alternative. I tried reinstalling the Apple BootCamp version of the drivers but can't get a ReLive VR option to show up, so I am hoping those with more experience can find a way to enable this.

Oculus Link isn't perfect. :/ AMD ReLive might be one of the better options, if it can be enabled for the 5300M/5500M. Did you install AMD ReLive by sideloading the app?

I didn’t install the apk on the Quest because the stupid AMD drivers Apple provides don’t seem to have the ReLive option at all. Is Apple just trolling us or what? What was the reason they took that component out... I just don’t get it. Bah Humbug. i have tried ALVR now, and at low bit rates it works better than the Oculus Link at this point, at least in terms of jitter on Rift games (steam games seem to perform far better), but the video quality is not as good. I would imagine that if ReLive can be turned on and used it will provide the best experience at this point, until Oculus can (if they ever do) get together with AMD and tap into the drivers to get optimized output.

I did some more digging into this, and it seems as if the ReLive VR streaming option should also be included in the AMD Radeon™ Pro Software (Blue?) as well ( www.amd.com/en/technologies/radeon-pro-software-wireless-vr). In addition to AMD Radeon™ Software Adrenalin 2019 ( www.amd.com/en/technologies/radeon-software-relive-vr). Supposedly, the prerequisites for unlocking the VR streaming settings are to install Steam and SteamVR. And after doing that the settings should show up. After trying this though, the settings do not show up with the default drivers that you get when installing Windows 10 via Boot Camp using the 16 inch MBP (5500M). The 5500M should have the horse power to be able to do this in theory (?), as the AMD ReLive VR streaming works with gpus "all the way" back to RX 570. So I am guessing that the 5500M and probably a lot of other gpus just aren’t included/unlocked in the drivers. Here is a video btw showing how this would work with the Focus+. As mentioned, this definitely works with Oculus Quest (if the app is sideloaded), and a couple of other VR headsets as well. So if it is possible to implement this in the future drivers that would be extremely appreciated ( Mat HD)!

Did anybody actually test VR on the 16-inc Macbook Pro, outside attempts to use Oculus Link? After seeing someone on YouTube playing Stormland smoothly, I started considering getting an Oculus Rift S, but not sure if this machine is powerful enough to do any decent gaming (that Half Life Alyx though....) UPDATE: I ran the Steam VR Benchmark test and got a 5.8 "medium" result, just a few points shy of the "Ready"/recommended zone. Seems like it should probably handle VR on medium settings pretty well. Perhaps when the December drivers are released, it will even go higher? Time will tell

Did anybody actually test VR on the 16-inc Macbook Pro, outside attempts to use Oculus Link? I tried setting up wireless PCVR to the Focus+ yesterday, using Riftcat’s VRidge as well as VIVE’s relatively new wireless PCVR setting in Viveport (which is in BETA), and it worked somewhat. VRidge seems to have quite a lot of problems, some of which went away after changing the default settings. For example, the default resolution was completely off, and all I could see with the Focus+ were green lines and other glitches. I have high hopes that AMD Radeon ReLive will work much better than either of these two alternatives once it has been added to the red or blue boot camp drivers

I have the i9 5500 M 4 GB model. Btw, after installing the December drivers the SteamVR benchmark result reached 6.0, officially making the "VR ready" mark (though just about). I will probably get an Oculus Quest soon so I can check the real-life performance then

I can confirm that ReLive and wireless PCVR is working with 5500M/8GB with the latest Adrenalin 2020 red drivers that came out today (http://bootcampdrivers.freeforums.net/thread/563/adrenalin-2020-edition-users-released)! Awesome work Mat! Thanks

Awesome work Mat! Thanks Adding a note for anyone else that ends up confused like I was... lol there is no option to install it like was mentioned previously, it seems it is done automatically. But in my case, it wasn’t turned on. I had to go into the gear icon settings in the AMD settings under devices to enable it.
