iMac 5K 2019 with Vega 48; had time to test once more so clean installed August's red edition again and confirmed that the first try wasn't just bad installation. 5K resolution is available, also the performance in games is better (at least in one game). Gears 5 runs at 55-60fps even at 4K with mixed High/Ultra settings. Unfortunately the problem I had last time is still there. When playing a game, after some time the image freezes, sound continues. Half a minute later the sound stops and screen turns black, PC doesn't react to mouse or keyboard, even the power button on iMac doesn't do anything when pressed once but PC still works because the fans are blowing. Also, at the end I had stats overlay and it kept displaying frozen stats even after the screen turned black. It doesn't matter how much you wait, nothing changes and the only option is to force shutdown. I couldn't find anything in event viewer about it besides force shutdown. Last month when I first tested I had the same problem but not with games but when playing a movie, don't think that it's an overheating problem.
Reinstalled July's blue edition, performance is a little bit worse. Also, when playing Gears 5 in 4K, then the game crashes every time it switches between cutscene and gameplay. At 1440p and same settings the performance is same as with August's drivers at 4K and doesn't seem to crash. Even when turning everything up to Ultra the perfomance stays the same but crashes from time to time. Also what I noticed is that at the same settings and resolution the July's software uses only 55-65% GPU while August's software 87-92%.
So in conclusion, while August's red edition performs better in games it is unusable for playing games/movies for longer than 15-30min.

What settings do you guys go with in the Radeon settings? I have a Macbook Pro 2019, 2.3ghz i9, 32gb ram, Vega 20, and a 144hz monitor. I am playing games like Fortnite and CSGO and I want to know what gaming settings to use in Adrenalin control panel. Any suggestions?

Alkar, if you have a FPS counter when you play, do you find that the fist 5minutes is about 20-30% higher FPS performance, than after say 30 minutes of play. I think it has very aggressive underclocking/throttling when it starts to heat up after pre-longed play. This has been my experience with other titles on the iMac Pro + Vega 58 + August Red release. I can find settings that will never drop below 60fps in the first 5 minutes of play, but that will struggle with those same settings after 10+ min of gameplay. Mat HD Is there any way to more aggressive fans or configure less 'safe' temperature throttling to avoid this? PS/ Otherwise the August release has been the highest performance so far. Good work! Any game in particular ? Or all games ? You mean black ops 4 or control ? Control isn't a stable 60fps with my settings but it doesnt seem to drop that much after some time; it is more demanding depending on the scenes... Black Ops 4 is 60fps always but i only played 30min of it with the new drivers. But I didn't try much games so hard to say.. Tell me a game you have the issue and i'll try. I remember having lots of issues with Anthem when trying the beta, after indeed 30min the game was crawling and running like shit, really weird. This was already with 19.3.3. Also RAGE 2 is running at like 10 fps with in game vsync, i think it's a bug. In game vsync in Control is also terrible. With red settings enhanced one there is less loss of framerate. I usually have lots of issues with in game vsync for some reason. The fps gradually lowering / gpu throttling was in PUBG. I have since found what looks to be a solution to force the fans to run at full speed (2500 rpm) at all times which seems to mitigate the throttling somewhat. To do this on the iMac Pro I downloaded macs fan control but because fan control is handled by the T2 chip on the iMac Pro you will NOT be able to use the Windows version to set fan speed. But there is a work around: instead download the MacOS version of Macs Fan Control and set fan speed while in MacOS then select restart from within the OS (i.e. do not hard power down). From here you can now boot into Windows 10, with the 'option' key, as usual. While in Windows you will be able to hear that the fans have maintain the RPM that you set from back in MacOS. This has resulted in less frame drops for me than before. I'm not sure how taxing this is on the fans themselves though, so use at own discretion. If this topic hasn't been covered before it might be helpful for others alkar Mat HD EDIT/CORRECTION for T2 chip users: Before setting your fans in MacOS you will need to select the windows partition as the default boot, otherwise the soft-restart process won't allow you to select windows. 1. Power on with 'option' key down, then CONTROL + CLICK Windows partition to set it as default for boot. 2. Then click the arrow under MacOS to boot once into it, and set the fans to max 'Fans Control Mac'. 3. Soft-restart from Apple menu, which now boots you into windows without holding down 'option'. To reset to mac boot, repeat step 1.

I am playing games like Fortnite and CSGO and I want to know what gaming settings to use in Adrenalin control panel. Any suggestions? I only play Fortnite and have a 144hz for my '17 MB so I could help you out. If I'm incorrect about anything here, anyone please feel free to correct me. Which driver are you on rn? Not sure if you've been here a while but some have additional settings available. I'm assuming you want to maximize framerate at all costs to get the full benefit of that 144hz, so you should use these: AA Mode: Use Application Setting / AA Method: Multisampling / Morphological Filtering: OFF / Anisotropic Filtering Mode: Use Application Setting / Texture Filtering Quality: Performance / Surface Format Optimization: ON / Wait For Vertical Refresh: Always Off / OpenGL Tripple Buffering: OFF / Shader Cache: ON or AMD Optimized / Tessellation Mode: A MD Optimized or Use Application Setting / Power Efficiency: OFF / GPU Workload: Graphics / Frame Rate Target Control: Disabled
Under Wait for V. Ref. theres an option for "Enhanced Sync", which if youre unsure of what that is, a quick youtube search should bring up AMD's own explainiation video on the process. Basically a more efficient way for the GPU to filter frames to minimize stuttering or screen tearing with LESS input lag than V-sync (or having the wait for V. Ref/. set to "Always On / Use Application Setting and enabling V-Sync in game). In Fortnite, I've come to the conclusion that Enhanced Sync DOES feel slightly smoother, and theres minimal/no tearing when I cap in game at 144fps and am getting that. But in some instances it introduces a distinct Stuttering issue, and a very slight input lag that you can only really notice when making fast edits (like when doing a quick cone corner and floor edit ontop of someones box, or even just making your edit & confirming/resetting too quickly).
Also, is you monitor Freesync?

Also, is you monitor Freesync? Thanks for the info, super helpful! I'm on the latest August edition of Adrenalin. Yes, it is a freesync monitor, it's a LG 27GL850B. And you answered my next questions I was going to ask as well, like capping fps at 144 in Fortnite, and turning off v-sync in game as well. As I understand it enhanced sync basically covers framerates outside of the regular freesync range (40-144 or so?) and does it's own type of v-sync? I'll search it up to learn more. So, cool, I'll give these settings a try and see how it goes. Thanks so much for the feedback. Oh, what about things like VSR and also HDR/WCG? Both of those are recommended by Radeon Settings in my Adrenalin control panel.

Just want to add my input (first time installation of windows on iMac 5K 2017 ~ 4GB RX575)
To begin I installed July version and then removed via DDU to install august version instead. Installation enabled the clone which I removed from AMD settings & then choose 3840x2160 from PC graphics settings. Intend to use for Gaming only so don't care about 5K resolution packed with blue build (July version).
Playing Gears 5 which has smooth 60fps on High Settings. There is a drop here and there sometimes but overall game play is very smooth. May be also due to Gears 5 being highly optimized. Also tried with another graphics hungry game... Metro Exodus. Had audio stuttering issues but choosing Dolby audio in settings fixed that. FPS stays between 50-60 range mostly. So far have not faced any issues with the drivers.
Was wondering if there is a way to enable HDR on windows and run netflix on it? either via netflix app or browser. It ends up with an error code always.
Also, in Radeon live settings am not able to use FPS counter. Did enable it but it doesn't show up. AMD link works perfect thou.
Thanks again Mat for the wonderful release.
