Hey,
I just got a iMac Pro and most of my work is done in OSX but i do enjoy gaming so i thought this would be a good fit for a 2 in 1 computer. Clearly, the drives aren't up to par as games aren't running very smoothly.
I happen to run into this site and this is my first time encountering it.
I have a few macs (laptops) and I have used windows with them but had no issues using drivers directly from AMD until the iMac Pro. lol
So, how do I get started? I get the gist of the installation steps but do I need to have fan control? Is that something I need to absolutely monitor? Also, which adrenalin version do I download, the latest on the site?
I have the Vega 56 graphics card.
Thanks!

First: You can use the Drivers from AMD official website. These are relatively old, but most games should work fine with these. They are much better than the drivers Apple released with the first Bootcamp drivers for the iMac Pro.
*If* newer games need more up to date drivers, you can try to use the unofficial drivers from this website. Currently i use the 18.10.2 drivers for the iMac Pro and they work fine for me. First i uninstalled the original AMD drivers with DDU and after a restart installed 18.10.2. with the setup.exe. This worked perfect for me. See the forums for more instructions if problems appear.

This is what I have been reading online which lead me here. I ended up installing both 18.9.1 and 18.12.1.1 without noticeable improvements to performance. Both times I installed exactly as described in the read me. I use Unigine to benchmark to compare from Apple Bootcamp drivers to these ones and no difference. Did I do something wrong? I was definitely expecting a big change considering these graphics cards should be able to handle the latest games. Or, maybe my expectations were just too high lol

Install 18.12.3 one from this site for iMac Pro. Just run setup.exe after uninstalling Bootcamp one with DDU.
Don't expect to run latest games in 5K @ 60fps. Even 30 fps is gonna be tough.
You can expect to have some running at 60FPS in 1440p. 1080p should be easy too.

With apple drivers, it averaged 26 FPS. After driver updates mentioned above, no FPS improvements at all. I will try 18.12.3 and report back! Thank you

Avoid 18.12.3, it has some issues. Use 12.10.2, it's the best version so far afaik (using Vega 64 Pro).

What kind of issue? Doesn't seem like it here with the Vega 56

What kind of issue? Doesn't seem like it here with the Vega 56 It heats up the GPU much more, 18.10.2 runs the coolest, but 18.12.1.1 is in between.

Yeah I Read you said something about it, but I dont have this issue with Vega 56... Well I only compared Apple drivers vs 18.12.3 and t° seems the same, at least in Blops 4, it's always between 89 and 95° with fans barely audible (and the game runs like dog shit with Apple drivers too).

Well, 18.10.2 runs much cooler. Also set the fans at static 1800rpm with Macs Fan Control in macOS, then there'll be no throttling, as I'm sure you're getting now. That should help with performance. Well, just a suggestion...

I tried putting fans at a static speed, it doesn't help with performances. The iMac Pro throttles perfectly fine, just the sensor is set on 90° for the GPU. It doesn't underclock at that speed (I suspect it does at 100°C)

Bumping this thread as I also have a iMac Pro that I would like to PC game on.
First think I noticed in the Jamieckorea guid is the fan control does not work on this machine. Is this required?
Are there any other guides out there for optimization / FPS improvement.
Seems like the only thing to do is install a driver from the site.
