Ever since installing your Crimson drivers on my 395X, my fan goes mad and some demanding games (Deus Ex: MD and Rise of the Tomb Raider) crash after some time with errors about Display adaptor. I am sure the GPU is overheating and 'shutting down' till it cools.
Any thoughts on that?

Some games sometimes do get a direct x error. I would recommend you use Direct X 12 for those games as it provides performance benefits. The fans will indeed ramp up, but if the GPU overheated then the whole computer would simply freeze and shutdown automatically, eventually restarting itself once it cooled down. This happened to my M295X when overclocking it before I discovered Macs Fan Control which is great for helping to keep the chip cooler.

My question to you in reply is this - are the fans always ramping up even when not gaming??

No, only when gaming, and I do use DX12.

Probably some minor errors with DX12 then. Thankfully the errors are generally rare but yes I've seen this happen once or twice in Rise of the Tomb Raider, and a little more often in Battlefield 1. Though an update to both of these games eradicated the error for me and should have done for you too.

I found this to get some extra fan speed from Macs Fan Speed with CheatEngine. www.cheatengine.org/Here is the youtube clip that i used. Looks like it injects higher fan value into Macs fan Speed exe. I have tested and it workes. Regards NAd

Just be careful with that as I can imagine a whole load of potential problems occuring with this, the worst being the premature breaking of the fan which would be disastrous in an imac and any laptop.

Why hack when you can just run the native MS Window app - Mac Fan Control?
I have been running for years on my iMac including my late 2015 27-inch iMac 5K Retina to great success.
Mac Fan Control will allow you to customize when the fans come on based on your environment and hardware with a few clicks ... just select [Based on GPU Diode] and 50C [Temperature that fan speed will start to increase from:] and 90C for [Maximum temperature:] and let the app do its job.
Works great in macOS and MS Windows 10 Pro for when I run the WoT Mac Wrapper [macOS] and World of Tanks [MS Windows] which are both graphics intensive games if you run the HD version of both [which I do].
