Unfortunately, the new drivers since 2019 have been either unstable or just straight up incompatable for those mac pros. I've been fighting the same problem with my mac pro with dual D700s. Between FS2020 and cyberpunk it's probably time to build a dedicated windows box.

Well, I mean I can play 2077 but only at 20-30fps, even lowest graphics will eventually drop to 30 FPS. No option possible for 60 FPS. And with dec edition, Assassins Creed Valhalla often doesn’t respond after I play for a while, it’s weird because with official driver I never had that problem. In my case, I find most of thermal throttling is not because of the GPU but the CPU, even the GPU frequency dropped, it is a result of CPU frequency been throttled and bottlenecked the GPU. so I use ThrottleStop run on Performance setting. Helped in my case. Also could try MacFunControl to prevent damage. I reinstalled dec driver in ddu way, now I can run 2077 at high graphics at a constant 30 FPS experience, it’s way better.

Any solutions for this Try going into the windows display settings and click detect. Make sure it’s set to “Extend Display to 2” or something similar.

Hi guys. I've been following this website since I got my MacBook Pro 16" last year. I'm still a noob and not very knowledgeable. This is my first message here. I found so many helpful tips here so I decided to share one of my own when it comes to playing Cyberpunk on this particular model - MBP 16" i9/16GB/5500M 4GB. I tried everything to get stable 50-60 fps on medium settings with high texture and 1536x960 as I believe anything below that is not worth it. Don't try to play this game on low as it looks like dogshit compared to even medium settings, let alone high or ultra. As I said, I tried everything. MSI afterburner, throttlestop, qick CPU, Macs fan control, you name it. Tried rolling back to January drivers, then back to Novembre ones, the official ones from AMD and finally the latest, Decembre bootcamp drivers (both blue and red edition). Nothing seemed to work and I would encounter the same issue every single time, no matter what program or drivers I was running - the fps would just drop after a couple of minutes in the game to below 30 and on several occasions the game would just freeze and the black screen would appear, therefore I had to restart my Mac in order to get anything running again. I almost gave up and, this may sound silly to some, I lit my cigar after a long day at work and decided to give Cyberpunk one more chance as I really, really wanted to play this game. Since I don't smoke very often, I can't stand the smell of cigars when I'm not smoking, I had to open my balcony door to let the smoke out and some air in. I live in Europe, Serbia and it's freezing here at this time of the year. Anyways, as I was smoking and freezing, the game was running smoothly at 60 fps, no problems, glitches, crashes or whatsoever. I thought this was my lucky day or something. I didn't run any extra programs to help me control my CPU or fans or anything. I closed my balcony door, grabbed some snacks and was ready to spend the night playing this masterpiece. Within minutes of me closing the door, the game started lagging again, the performance and FPS were crap again and that's when I realized my GPU *was powerful enough* to run this game on acceptable settings but the room temperature was too high for my laptop to stay cool and keep the performance up. As soon as I opened my balcony door to let some air in, the game ran great again. So yeah, I have a cold now (might be covid for all I know) but it was damn worth spending the whole night freezing just so I can play Cyberpunk on medium settings with stable 60fps. So if anyone still wonders why they cannot run this game on low settings (on similarly specced Mac), it's not your specs, it's your room temperature. Try to invest in an external cooler or be a Slav like myself, spend 3k on a computer just so you can feeze your ass in order to play some games.
Now excuse me, I have a GPU to burn.

I installed the December Blue Drivers using the factory reset option in the install package. Did not run DDU first. Install went normally and appears to be stable. I even have the AMD option available when I right click on the desktop. I get a few more FPS when running the Heaven extreme benchmark. The Timespy benchmark returns an error saying that it cannot set full screen.
Skyrim is running smoothly at 5K resolution with almost all options set at ultra.

Haha, thanks for sharing, this was really hilarious..... It really is the VRM that is restricting the delivery of power to the GPU when it reaches a certain temp... hence why cooling the laptop further or doing the "VRM cooling mod" would give better performance....

I have the 2020 27" iMac with Pro 5700 XT. Because I saw the Red version is better for gaming, I tried that first, but got the split and mirrored screen issue others reported. I thought I could simply change a game's resolution to below 4K to avoid the problem, but apparently not. I did not, however, try lowering my Windows resolution. Would it make a difference, or should I really stick with the Blue drivers even though I only want the drivers for gaming?

Now you’re no more a noob XD! My MBP16 is 5600M version, I faced many similar problems to you with cyberpunk 2077. Now I’m really sure I need a cooling pad. My roommates won’t let me open the door to get cold air. Just cold air won’t cause COVID, don’t worry, but please always have a mask on when outside.

have played Cyberpunk 2077 with the 6800 XT? If so, how does it perform? Yes I did. Ok performance but I think must have some eGPU loss. I play on 2K Ultra, have CAS on dynamic with minimum 40 fps. I get 35-40 fps in busy areas and 57-60(capped)fps in doors. I got lowest fps when driving fast thru busy areas, could drop to 28-30. Game runs smoothly without crash and stutter or lag. External 6800XT only offered a performance of 2k ultra at 40 FPS??? Unbelievable. Maybe 6900XT will save it? Or if the thunderbolt3 limited the performance? Hope there will be an iMac with 6900XT. And I have 5600M MBP 16 too. I guess I will need egpu 2 years later. Hope i7-9750H will still perform well that day.

Hi Mat, thanks very much for the december drivers, use to stuck at the ripperdoc mission for cyberpunk as the gamee would crash, now it runs stable 30-40fps at 1080p on mbp16. The only problem i have is AMD link is missing, as well as devices setting are missing from radeon software (im using blue, and its also mising in red). Is it the software or did i miss something during installation?
