Hello, I'm trying to run games (via Bootcamp) on my MacBook Pro i7. The Vega 20 can run some AAA with 60 fps as long as you turn the graphics down.
However, the card appears to throttle down to the lowest speed possible, back up, back down...ad infinitum.
I can tell it's a throttle since the FPS will be at a steady 60 fps and then stutter at 2 fps before jumping back up. This occurs no matter than game I play. The GPU doesn't even reach 70 degrees C.
Is there anything I can do, or am I out of luck? It's impossible to game with these stutters.
Some notes...
*The stutters get less frequent if I disable turboboost *I did not notice them in emulators *CPU is not maxed out in these games *The stuttering just started happening. I used to have none of this *Currently using the latest driver provided by this website

Did you manage It? I have the same problem and dont know what to do. but difference in processors. Macbook 2019 i9 with vega 20 throttle to 317 mhz after 10-15 minutes in NFS Payback and other hard games... 10 minutes on 60 fps and then 10...

I would like to know as well having similar specs
Can anyone run tests with different ambient temperatures and ventilation conditions if they have the Vega 20? With and without ThrottleStop.
If you can open up your MacBook Pro, was dust inside? Did it contribute to throttling?

I have registered to reply to this thread.
I am running a maxed out 2019 iMac 4k with that Vega 20.
Had exactly the same issues with throttling after 10 minutes. With all 2020 drivers.
What I did to resolve this issue, again 3x DDU in safe mode and afterwards I have installed only the latest (DEC) apple/AMD driver via the drive manager, not via the regular installer. Had no interest in the software around.
This brings you back to non throttling stable performance, but still you might see (micro) stutters in the game. That could be solved by installing Throttlestop and disabling the turbo boost via the checkbox.
All games run smoothly by now. AC Origins somewhere between 30 (Alexandria) and 60 fps on very high settings. Battlefront 2 butter smooth, Fallen Jedi Epic settings smooth etc.
Shame is that the 2020 drivers are still a lot better fps wise, but start to throttle...

Thank you, thank you, thank you a lot!!! But can you say a driver version which you installed? 18.20? It is the bootcamp December version. They are supposed to be the AMD November 2019 drivers.
