Hello everyone,
I am new here as I discovered the website recently.
I have a 5k iMac from 2014 with the M295X graphics card.
So far I was using Apple's provided drivers and the games I was playing were working fine. I was mostly playing games like Rainbow Six Siege, PUBG, No Man's Sky.
I recently tried to play Ghost Recon Wildlands and the game kept crashing before launch because of the drivers.
So I discovered this website and followed the procedure to install Adrenalin 19.3.3.
Everything went perfectly and the drivers seem to be installed correctly. My graphics card is detected in device manager and now I can launch Ghost recon Wildlands.
However there is an issue. After few seconds the game is horribly lagging. It feels like I'm playing with 10fps. If I lower the resolution, even with all graphic options turned off and the lowest resolution possible, the game works fine for few minutes but after a while it's unplayable again with 10fps.
And the same problem happens to all the other games. Even the ones that were working fine with Apple's provided drivers.
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall drivers but it didn't change anything.
Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this issue ?
Thanks a lot

Use MacsFanControl to ramp up the fans sooner. Works for me on my M295X.

Hi,
So this is only a heating issue ? Because issue doesn’t happen with Apple’s provided drivers and temperature should be the same ? No need to try an older version of Adrelin ?
I will try MacFanControl but do you have an advice on the settings I should choose ? I’m always a bit scared to play with the fans.
Thanks for your help

Thanks for your help Follow the instructions in the read me file for setting up MacsFanControl. The drivers I provide don't have Apple's clock speed limiter applied to them, so the card runs at its factory speed which is faster but also generates more heat. It is a heating issue yes. I have the same card as you.

Hello,
I have tried MacsFanControl but I still have the same issue.
I have set MacsFanControl as described in the read me file and I could hear the fan go instantly faster.
Once in the game I can play fine for about 1 minute but then I once again have fps drops.

Just an update on the situation. I have uninstalled Adrenalin 19.3.3 and installed instead 18.2.2 and I don't have the issue anymore. Looks like there is something happening with the newer versions.

Yes this is weird.
For your information, since I have installed MacsFanControl I can check the gpu temperature. And there is about a 10 degree difference between 19.3.3 and 18.2.2.
When I had 19.3.3 the gpu was at 75 degrees when idle and 105 when playing a game. And since I installed 18.2.2 it is 63 when idle and 95 when playing a game.
You said it is a heating issue so maybe this 10 degree difference is enough to make games slower ?
For now I can play all my games with 18.2.2 so I'm happy with it but maybe this feedback can help you find what the problem is for later versions.
Anyway thanks a lot for your help and thank you so much for making these drivers available for us as I wouldn't be able to play at all with Apple's drivers.
EDIT : The 10 degree difference happened because Windows 10 resolution changed to 3840x2160 when I installed 18.2.2. I changed it back to 5120x2880 and the gpu went up to 75 degrees. I played a game with that resolution. Gpu temperature went up to 105 degrees like before but I didn't have any fps drop so it looks like it's not a heating problem after all. It really only happens with newer versions of the drivers

Hello Mat,thank you for your work. I also have the same problem. I use MacbookPro 2018 with 560X. About a month ago I installed 19.3.3, it worked well at first for about 2 weeks. Then sometimes FPS dropped to 3 for several seconds when I was playing any games. At last it can never work normally. I tried using 19.3.1,but the problem happened again. Then I back to 19.1.2, the problem disappear, however the performance is even worse than AppleDriver. Now I'm using 18.40 on the AMD website, the performance is just passable. I really miss 19.3.3!

Late 2014 5K Mac with AMD R9 M295X and I7.
I also noticed a pretty large decrease in performance after installing 19.3.3. Back in the day, I installed some lower number drivers from the 19 generation and the results were similar. I went back to the highest 18 generation drivers (18.12.3) and the performance went back to normal (as it was in the earlier 18th generation driver I was running for a few months).
The effect is visible in: - Elder Scrolls Online, - Star Wars: The Old Republic - Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers benchmark: 5633 score for 18.12.3, 5095 for 19.3.3.
I used the same settings in the driver as you suggest in the video in both cases: Tripple Buffering ON, Texture Filtering PERFORMANCE, Limit FPS to 60, I use MacFan as well.
Do you use different settings for 19th generation?
Cheers, m.

Also, I should note that the decrease in performance is right of the bat. It is not good in the beginning with a slight decrease later on (throttling).
I see. Well, I will stick to the 18.12 right now and see how the next iterations will do.
Thanks and have a nice evening. M.
