Hey guys, so i got this macbook about a week ago and I've been trying my hardest to get it to play league of legends on mac OS or Boot camp. What seem to happen is on Mac OS, I get high (90+) frames but then it always drops to 14 or 17 fps no matter what setting I change in game and even turn off that power saving mode that switches between Integrated graphics and dedicated graphics. So I got tired of it and installed boot camp, windows 10 pro 64 bit. The only problem is the frames are actually lower (below 60) and the stuttering isn't as bad but I can't even run the game on the lowest graphics without it dipping to mid 30s. After installing the latest drivers here it got slightly better by only dropping to 47 fps. Gaming hasn't been the main focus for buying this macbook pro but I believed it could at least play league of legends, then I would be fine with it. I'm asking, is it possible that there's something I haven't tried to fix the issue, should I risk keeping this $2,400 possible piece of junk or give it back and buy the 13 or 12 inch and forget about gaming entirely and focus on school work with a laptop. Greatly appreciate any incite, thoughts and opinions given around here. New to this forum but everyone here seems to be helpful.

Maybe install Macs Fan Controll and bump the fans up to the limit. The 2018 MacBook Pro has big temperature problems causing thermal throttling of the CPU...

So, after uninstalling windows 10 and installing the current bootcamp drivers for the THIRD TIME, I was FINALLY able to play league without the frame drops. I was seriously close to giving up but I'm glad I gave it one more final chance. Super happy with it right now but wish it could play just a bit better. The games I've tried include: League of Legends (Stable 60 fps maxed settings, capped), Final Fantasy XV (Stable 30 fps capped @ lowest settings), and Dragon Ball FighterZ (Stable 60 capped @ medium settings). Am still thinking of giving it back and trying out the 560x cause it could at least run a little more efficiently. Not completely sure yet since it took a lot to finally get this to work. Also not sure if it'll run hotter than the 555x or not.

If yours is a new 2018 MacBook Pro, be aware that Apple just released a supplemental update to macOS 10.13.6 (for the 2018 MacBooks Pro only) to correct a bug that was causing excessive throttling of the CPU under certain heavy and extended workloads. From your description, it sounds possible that you may have encountered that bug.
It might be worth giving League of Legends another try in macOS after installing that update.

I'm afraid I didn't try it. I did give it back but I mainly wanted to play league of legends on windows anyway. However, I did try Fortnite on Mac OS after the update and it did run a lot better but sometimes the game would take forever to load into. I believe that's a problem with Fortnite's optimization for Mac OS. There is a driver issue with the speakers in windows 10 where after a while it'll start to static and after less than 5 mins, the speakers would stop working and would need to be disabled and enabled to maybe get it to work. I did also realize that in windows 10 the speakers were a lot louder than in Mac OS. Finally, the headphone jack in Windows 10 would be severely delayed, as if I connected via bluetooth instead of straight into the headphone jack. Audio worked fine once i plugged in my playstation platinum headphone with a usb dongle. I will be getting another 2018 laptop but with the 560X because for 100 dollars I believed it was worth the upgrade after apple addressed the thermal issues and with future updates to boot camp. I can finally believe in the potential in the MacBook pro 2018. I'll start testing the new MacBook pro once I get it. (I7 2.2 GHz CPU, 16 GB RAM, and AMD 560X will be my new MacBook pro 2018 configuration.)

Yes, the audio degradation over time and the latency are known issues with Apple's audio drivers in Windows when using the built-in sound output (whether speakers or headphone jack). Currently the only workaround seems to be to use a USB or other external sound device. (I always game with USB headphones, and I've never encountered these issues myself. Others report similar success using external sound cards.)
