Has any iMac Pro user tried the latest from Apple? I'm afraid to install it without severely damaging my GPU performance

HI Beberlin, just read the other thread where this is discussed in detail. In short: These are much better drivers than those that shipped orignaly. I have stable 60fps on Ultra 4k in Far Cry 5 with these drivers. They are based on a late February AMD release. Of course the newest drivers from Mat are still bit better. But for now, Apple has done its homework (at least a little bit of it) :-)

I'm holding off for now. Been using Matt's wonderful driver updates and they work just fine for me.

I've been going back and forth between 18.3.4 and Bootcamp driver (17.1.2), and the performance difference is minimal. The very latest games will probably run a bit better on 18.3.4 because of driver optimisation (make sure you don't run games in borderless mode = lower framerate). I did notice that the official Vega Pro driver makes the GPU run less hot.
PS: Apple didn't fix the audio issues with the internal speakers in this update, hmm.

The update is purely a GPU driver update from looking at the package. There are no other drivers included.
