Hey everyone,
I've just started gaming on a Vega 56 iMac Pro and am a bit concerned about temperature issues. I've used NZXT CAM to make a custom fan curve which has seemed to control temperatures well while playing overwatch, however I've just started playing FarCry 5 and the CPU temperature has gone up as high as 90 without heating the GPU up too much. The issue I'm having is that I can't find a way to control the fan speeds based on CPU temperature as the drivers seem to link the fans to the GPU only. Does anyone know of a possible solution? I've seen that Macs Fan control doesn't work yet with the iMac pro on bootcamp. Thank you!

That's because NZXT CAM doesn't work with iMac Pro in Bootcamp/Windows 10, and neither does any other fan control software at the moment. Your only option is to use Macs Fan Control or iStat Menus in OSX, and set a static fan speed there. Then boot into Windows, and play your games. In my experience, the most demanding games (or 4K) needs a fan speed at 2400rpm (or higher) to avoid the GPU constantly hitting the 90s Celsius range. This is far from ideal, but the guy behind Macs Fan Control tried all sorts of things to get his program to work on iMac Pro, but couldn't figure it out. Apple has changed the SMC for the iMac Pro, and have done something with Bootcamp. If anyone has the know-how to figure this out (or has some ideas), please contact the MFC maker. www.crystalidea.com/blog/fan-control-imac-pro

That’s a good workaround for now, hopefully they get it figured out soon. Thank you so much!

Turning off the T2 chip security function is a quick thing to do, just tried it for the first time. Unfortunately I didn't think of that when testing the Macs Fan Control betas for Bootcamp. (I actually thought it was turned off, because I don't use FileVault.) But why would MFC then work in OSX, but not Bootcamp? Hmm.. EDIT: MFC still doesn't work in Bootcamp, with T2 security function turned off.

Anyone have any other suggestions? I'm still having to crank the fans up in MacOs then reboot in windows to have any fan speed in bootcamp D=

Sadly there is no other solution at the moment.
