It's really inconsistent too. But ultimately it rolls back your windows if you have a restore point or have to reinstall bootcamp through OSX.

Do you both have the same vega gpu? Make sure you are installing over the bootcamp apple driver without deleting it.

Yes.
In this order
1 Install Windows.
2 Make all Windows updates
3 Install new drivers
4 Restart
5 Windows must repair

Found a major issue for people looking to work with this "workaround". If you plan to edit using this workaround or crypto mine then you'd be out of luck. When I start my editing program of choice (davinci resolve) it is telling me there is no capable CUDA or OpenCL card available and same goes for claymores crypto miner...
For some reason the card just isn't detected in these programs with this "fix"...

Have a go at installing the openCL sdk (it's bundled with the other driver downloads or you can get it from the amd website) and see if it resolves that problem.

PS Premiere Pro, Resolve etc just can't see the Vega64...

Hopefully in the future once the drivers start working via the traditional setup.exe method then full OpenCL functionality should be restored.

The machines aren’t meant to be used for gaming in the first place, so I’m guessing if an official driver is released it would be the same deal of gaming being mediocre and software being great?

It's more like Apple should update the boot camp driver.. I asked around the AMD software support forum and the answer I got was that Apple has the final say... It will take a long time (given the boot camp driver update history of Apple)
I also think the OpenCL support from AMD is currently non-existent on Vega cards. I don't even think they released a stable driver yet, but they are currently hiring new people for the job to make it work. Also AMD office in silicon valley just moved to a new place, so I'm guessing more delays until we get any working driver for OpenCL..

Edit - My system got caught in an infinite boot loop when trying to access my windows partition. Mac OSX also started to show signs of degradation with graphical glitches.... I’ve deleted the partition and I’m going back to the original install without this “fix”. I’ll wait until people that know what they’re doing e.g Apple and AMD sort something out.
